The company is 100% hungarian owned and our products are developed and manufactured exclusively within the European Union, in Hungary. There are no exceptions: all the optical materials and the optical- and mechanical manufacturing of our products are 100% made in the European Union. | |

Yet another APO manufacturer? Does the telescope market really need this?Yes, we believe that there is definitely the need on the market for lenses and telescopes that are designed by taking into account the lates achievements of science, specifically focusing on the thermal and mechanical problems that a telescope must face at the field.Almost all currently available products on the market are the results of a development process focusing on the most perfect optical configuration, without thinking about the behaviour of optics when they are taken outside the lab. We might call these "lab optimized" systems. We represent a completely different approach: we design our scopes to perform optimally under the stars, and to be extremely resistent against the disturbing effects of nature. We will call these "field optimized" systems, that make it possible to maximally utilize the precious observing time, without endless hours of waiting for the scope to "get into gear". Our optics also provide excellent results in a laboratory, closely matching the performance of the best current products, but we intentionally use only those design features that allow the system to remain maximally error-resistent at the field, and we do not accept any compromises in this respect. Even if our scopes would produce a few percent less perfect lab measurement data compared to the best current "lab optimized" systems, but would perform significantly better under the stars, then we would be still satisfied. |

Even the basic idea behind founding GPU Optical was the fact, that no products on the market could perfectly meet all our expectations (and the rare exceptions have long waiting lists and/or stellar prices), so we decided to build the scope ourselves, that can deliver the "Ultimate Observing Experience", instead of buying it. After completing our first lenses and telescopes and testing them under the starry sky, we finally got to the idea to found a new company and to commercially produce these optics we consider "ideal". The future will tell how our optics meet the requirements of customers, but we are very confident that we are moving in the right direction.
As we are also active amateur astronomers, so, our product developing philosophy is very simple: we only make products that we would be happy to buy ourselves. We will do our best to satisfy our customers, and to provide them scopes that they can really enjoy under the stars. | |
